Hozier Shares New Music Video for “Almost (Sweet Music)”
- Irish singer-songwriter Hozier worked with local musicians and dancers together on his new music video for “Almost (Sweet Music)”.
The video was directed by Blythe Thomas. “Big thank you to the local musicians and dancers who lent us their talent and time,” Hozier wrote on Instagram. “It was inspiring meeting and filming with so many people who’s work carry on from the legacy of the music referenced in this song.”
He pays homage to some of the greatest jazz musicians with this song. The track is included on his sophomore album "Wasteland, Baby!", which is his first LP in five years.
“Since the song… is about the experience of listening to music, the concept of this video is kind of drawing from the jazz tradition and just a lot of musicians and a lot of dancers whose disciplines stem from that tradition,” he said of the video.
The album "Wasteland, Baby!" was released back in March and reached No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. He said, "It was just a fun songwriting challenge. I was also eager to point to some of the music that shaped my formative years. Then, it was a way to leave little bread crumbs for younger fans to follow a path to check those songs out. And it’s also a sort of farewell, a way to take stock of all the things that could be lost from the world which are worth cherishing."
