  • The Urban Renewal Project Premieres New Song “Shake Those Hips”

  • Los Angeles-based 16-piece hip-hop big band The Urban Renewal Project is back. The band released a new song “Shake Those Hips” for the first time in two years.


    The song is based on soulful R&B, Jazz and rhythmic horn section sound, featuring the rap by Slim da Reason, Elmer Demond and Dustin Morgan.
    The Urban Renewal Project was formed in 2010 and consists of regular members Alex Nester and Elmer Demond, along with R.W. Enoch, Brian Clements, David Wise, Matt Ballard, Evan Mackey, Lindsay McMurray, Mike King, Mitch Cooper, Elliot Deutsch, Brina Simon, Tim Friedlander, Dustin Morgan and Satoshi Kirisawa. Recently, Slim da Reazon joined in the band.
    The group features a big band horn section, vocals and rap to create a signature sound between soul, jazz and hip-hop.
    To date, the band has released two EPs "Stop Me" (2011) and "Renewed & Remixed, Vol. 1" (2015), as well as three albums "Go Big or Go Home" (2012), "Local Legend" (2014) and "21st Century Ghost" (2017).
