  • Gabrielle Aplin Releases New Covers EP “Writers Block, Pt. 1”

  • British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin released a new EP “Writers Block, Pt. 1” on April 18, 2024.


    The EP is a collection of covers and comprises a 5-track, produced by Ash Howes and Seton Daunt.
    It is her first project in a year since the 2023 album “Phosphorescent”.

    Gabrielle Aplin said of the EP, “The EP is a collection of covers that were all originally released in the 90's. I love love writing songs but sometimes you need to let the field lie fallow. I decided to dive into a collection of my favourite songs from the decade I was born. I've called it part 1 because maybe I'll do another one on my next fallow!”
  • “Place Your Hands“
    The original version of the song was released by British rock band Reef from their second album “Glow” in 1996.
    It was written by Dominic Greensmith, Gary Stringer, John Bessant and Kenwyn House.
    The song reached No. 6 on the Uk Singles chart, and became the band's most successful single.
    Gabrielle Aplin said, “I love this song so much and I hope you love my version of it.”

    “Fake Plastic Trees“
    The original version of the song was released by British rock band Radiohead as the third single from their sophomore album “The Bends” in 1995.
    It was written by Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, and Philip Selway.
    The song became Gold disc in the UK.
    Gabrielle Aplin said, “I hope you love this cover of one of my favourite songs ever.”

    The original version of the song was released by American singer-songwriter Madonna as the lead single from her seventh studio album “Ray of Light” in 1998.
    It was written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard.
    The song became Madonna's first single to debut at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

    “If It Makes You Happy“
    The original version of the song was released by American singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow as the lead single from her self-titled second album in 1996.
    It was written by Sheryl Crow and Jeff Trott.
    The song reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and won Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the 1997 Grammy Awards.
