Canadian singer-songwriter Julian Taylor released a new song “Weighing Down” on April 17, 2024.
The song is the first single of his upcoming album “Pathways”, which is set to be released on September 27, 2024 via Howling Turtle.
Julian Taylor wrote the song during a time of overwhelm over the constant pressures we face in this world, as he also grappled with navigating the heaviness of some of his own life decisions and where they had led him.
Julian Taylor said of the song, “What it also does is address the idea that, 'All of us are our own worst enemies. All of us are so hard on ourselves.' That kind of pressure, and the way it affects our health, both mentally and physically – that's the weighing down of the world we put on our own shoulders because of things we think we've done wrong. What I'm saying here is, 'I've got to relieve myself from all of this hurt - and so do you.'”- The new album comprises a 8-track, produced by Julian Taylor and Colin Linden.
On the new album, Julian Taylor candidly captures how he approaches handling a litany of ever-lingering burdens which mirror the struggles we all experience.
He said of the album, “When you feel heavy, you've got to get things off your chest and Pathways reflects the way I was feeling while I was writing it and making it. What any of us are going through at any particular time acts as an imprint of what we're battling and trying to heal within ourselves.” -
