Tom Speight Releases New Song “Sungirl” featuring The Mayries
London-based singer-songwriter Tom Speight joined forces with Stockholm-based indie duo The Mayries to release a new song “Sungirl” on May 30, 2025.
This marks the second collaboration between Tom Speight and The Mayries, following “Kind to You”, which is featured on his 2024 EP “Stay Alive”.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming fourth studio album “Perfect Strangers”, which is set to be released on September 26, 2025 via Nettwerk.
It was written and produced by Tom Speight, with production by Will Purton.
Tom Speight said of the song, “If the Beatles and the Beach Boys had a baby in 2025, it would be Sungirl. This song is the closest I've ever come to capturing the sound of my musical heroes. Written on a grey day in London, it was inspired by the desire to create something that would brighten my girlfriend's day.”- The new album comprises 10 tracks, featuring guest appearances from P.P. Arnold, The Mayries, and Lydia Clowes. Produced by Tom Speight and Will Purton.
It is his first album in two years since the 2023 album "Love & Light".
Tom Speight said of the album, “With Perfect Strangers, I explore my love for folk, timeless songwriting, and the 1960s and '70s sound, reimagined with a modern twist… Even though we may have started as strangers, I hope these songs resonate with you on a deeper level. That's all I've ever wanted to do with my music: create a soundtrack for someone's day in a meaningful way.” -
