Yumi Zouma Releases New Song “Blister”
New Zealand alt-pop band Yumi Zouma, consisting of Christie Simpson (vocals/keyboards), Josh Burgess (guitar/bass/keyboards), Charlie Ryder (guitar/bass/keyboards) and Olivia Campion (drums), released a new song “Blister” on May 30, 2025.
The song is the second single of 2025, following “Bashville on the Sugar” released in April.
The band brought raw energy to the track, a sharp contrast to the introspective dream pop of their previous songs.
It was written and produced by Yumi Zouma. The accompanying music video was directed by Yumi Zouma themselves.
The band said of the song, “We found strength in simplicity, discovering that the more stripped-down we went, the more forceful the impact became. 'Blister' surged ahead on the back of our most anthemic riffs, conjuring images in our minds of C4, Channel Z, prepaid flip-phone text plans, and the Big Day Out main stage under the punishing heat of the hole in the ozone layer.”- Yumi Zouma originally joined forces in 2013 out of New Zealand. Since then, each member has ventured separately into different cities. Christie Simpson lives in Melbourne, Charlie Ryder in London, Josh Burgess in New York, and Olivia Campion in Wellington, New Zealand.
