  • John Butler Announces New Album “PRISM”, Shares New Song “So Sorry”

  • Australian singer-songwriter John Butler has announced his upcoming tenth studio album “PRISM”, will be released on September 5, 2025.

The album is part three in his Four Seasons project, following a meditation album “Running River” and an all-instrumental album “Still Searching”, which were released in 2024.
From the album, he released a new song “So Sorry” along with a live music video on May 28, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Trippin On You” released last month.
It was written by John Wiltshire Butler and produced by James Ireland.
The live video was directed by Luna Laure.

John Butler said of the song, “Long relationships end up having a lot of water under the bridge. We end up saying and doing things we live to regret. You get together as 'kids' and if you’re lucky, you learn how to regulate and become adults together. But no one gets out unscathed.”
  • The new album comprises 10 tracks, with John Butler and producer James Ireland sharing instrumentation and production duties on each.

John Butler said of the album, “It’s a big life and, the world, in many ways, is in turmoil. Personally, I did a lot of soul-searching and reflecting as this record took shape. For me, PRISM is a cathartic release, a celebration of going solo, moving away from the John Butler Trio moniker, and yet another sonic stretch as I continue to refine my musical journey. The title reflects the sonic and emotional 'bandwidth' I wanted to explore: the whole spectrum of what it is to be human. Love, death, politics, inner and outer turmoil and redemption.”
