Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Nilüfer Yanya Premieres New Song “Like I Say (I runaway)” on BBC Radio 6
London-based singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya is back. She premiered a new song “Like I Say (I runaway)” on BBC Radio 6 Cloudbusting with Lauren Laverne.
The song is her first music in two years since the 2022 album “Painless”.
Also, the track is the first release under her new label Ninja Tune and will appear on her upcoming third album, which is expected to be released later this year.
Nilüfer Yanya wrote the song with her frequent collaborator Will Archer, who also produced the track and her previous albums.
The accompanying music video was directed by her sister Molly Daniel.
“It's about how you choose to spend your time,” Nilüfer Yanya said of the song in a statement. “Time is like a currency, every moment. You're never going to get it back. It's quite an overwhelming thing to realize.”- She continued, “The chorus originally sounded a lot different - it didn’t have as much flashy guitar, it was a lot more chilled out. We kind of puzzled it out like a jigsaw.”
