spill tab Releases Debut Album “ANGIE”
Los Angeles-based French-Korean singer-songwriter Claire Chicha, aka spill tab released her debut album “ANGIE” on May 16, 2025 via Because Music Records.
The record is a cumulation of five years of her music, following her three EPs “Oatmilk”, “Bonnie” and “Klepto”.
The album comprises 12 tracks, produced by apob, Austin Corona, John DeBold, John Hill, marinelli, Mikey Freedom Hart, RISC, Solomonophonic, spill tab, William Van Zandt and Wyatt Bernard.
The album is dedicated to her father Yves Chicha, who is known as a composer and saxophone player.
spill tab said the album is a dialogue between the digital and the organic.
spill tab told Hanuman Welch of Apple Music, “It speaks to the conversation between the digital and organic and the destruction and the rebuilding that comes with just feeding a sound back and forth, from an analog synth into a computer back into a pedal. Those conversations, musically, are what make me the most excited about musicmaking. So to me, this album is that conversation in action.”- spill tab said of the album, “I love this collection of songs so deeply. They feel more honest than anything I've created in a long time, and I'm so proud of the hundreds (thousands??) of hours that were spent writing, producing, chipping away at vocals, tightening up harmonies, re-writing bass lines, deleting entire sections, coming up with completely new ones, with all the insane collaborators that worked on this project. It's really special to hear all these experiences on love and loss, rejection and passion, walking away and holding on too tight, all coexisting together in one place: a cumulation of these last few years of my life. It became this beautiful experience of only following ideas that I really believed in and exploring all the musical avenues I hadn't before.”

She shared on social media, “ANGIE is now yours, it feels kind of surreal to finally be able to share this with you all, i've spent so much time thinking about this project, all the sonic details and fine tuning, imagery, lyrics, layout, the countless hours crafting all the songs across 5 years, all the beautiful memories and friendships found or deepened throughout this time. It's my favorite thing I've ever made, it only exists because of all the incredible collaborators that have given so much of their time and love to the album. This album is dedicated to my dad Yves, I get my music bones from you, you're with me with every song I write, every show I play, every new album I fall in love with, I realized I emulate the dedication I grew up watching you give to your craft. Mostly, I miss you every day.”

“PINK LEMONADE”
“'PINK LEMONADE' was made on a chaotic day at John's back house studio. We took a 40-minute jam, cut it up, spliced it around, and used that as the foundation, adding more quirky guitar lines and unconventional drums. It's fitting because the song is about feeling discombobulated in life—feeling disconnected from my body, anxious, and wanting to escape into the cracks of the couch.”
“Assis”
“The production for Assis feels like the stitching between a 50's Italian film soundtrack and psychedelic rock. The song is about watching someone you love pull away from you in slow motion. You try to reconcile the beautiful, tender moments with the bitter ones, because ultimately you want no one else.”
“Athlete”
“Made with the big chefies jared solomon and Jasper Harris. This song is a sexy summer anthem pants around the ankles running to the bodega tripping into the sewers swimming with the RATS. But it's ur life do what you want with it while listening to Athlete on repeat!!!!!!!!”
“Hold Me”
“'Hold Me' was one of those special songs that poured out the day it was written. Sometimes songs take months or years to feel finished, I'm such an editor when it comes to my music, I love to cut and replace and add new parts here and there, or rewrite whole verses. But this one is really precious because it's an honest snapshot of how I was feeling that day. I was sad and so lonely, and was processing a difficult breakup at that point. And so I love this song because it feels like a little world within a crystal, very honestly captured and well preserved.”

“This one has held a really special place for me for a really long time, started in 2023 with chefs Jared Solomon and John Hill, it took almost 2 years to bring her home...
