SG Lewis Premieres New Song “Back Of My Mind” on BBC Radio 1
British DJ and singer-songwriter SG Lewis is back. He premiered a new song “Back Of My Mind” on BBC Radio 1's Dance Party with Danny Howard.
The song is his first taking lead vocal since the 2023 album “AudioLust & HigherLove” and will appear on his upcoming third studio album.
It was written by Ed Drewett, Julian Bunetta, Orlando Higginbottom, and Samuel George Lewis. Produced by Lewis, Orlando Higginbottom.
SG Lewis said of the song, “After spending last year focusing on 'Club Heat' and 'Forever Days', it felt right for the first taste of the forthcoming album to be a track that I'm singing on 'Back of My Mind' is a track about grief in all its forms, and the catharsis that can be provided by music. I wanted to create something introspective lyrically and it draws inspiration from a lot of the music I was listening to when I started producing, such as 90s trance and early prog house.”- He first performed the song during his live show last week. SG Lewis told Danny Howard about the song, “I've been playing it. And it's cool, because the chords are obviously quite dramatic and large. And so when I want to kind of change direction in the set, when it lands. It sort of like smacks people around the face, a little bit. So it's been cool, and people been like, really reacting to it, and so I'm just excited for it to be the first kind of taste of the new music.”

He continued, “I mean, this really just felt like the right place to start. Because, I've been like collaborating a lot. I've been focusing on the label forever, days and stuff. So all of that is very much like club focus. But I wanted to release something where I was on lead vocals again, and something that kind of felt just real songwriting focus as well as that being in the club and something that I can play something that has a lot of kind of introspection and just kind of emotion in it.” - source : BBC Radio 1
