American singer-songwriter Lauv released a new song “Potential” along with a music video on April 24, 2024.
The song is the follow-up the collaborative song “Run Back To You” with LAY, which was released back in February.
Also the track is the first single off of his upcoming third studio album.
It was written by Ari Leff, CASTLE, Jarrod Morgan, Jason Cornet, Kii Kinsella, Madison Love, Mark Williams, Michael Pollack, and Raul Cubina. Produced by Ojivolta and Twisco.
The accompanying video was directed by Luke Orlando.
In this track, Lauv revealed and encapsulated his own sexuality as a major theme. Last year, he came out as a member of the LGBTQ + Community in a TikTok.
“'Potential' is about realizing you have feelings for someone and dreaming about the potential of what it could be,” Lauv said of the song in a statement. “It’s the beginning of my next, most authentic chapter, and I can’t wait to share this and everything that’s coming next.”- He shared on social media, “I don’t wanna say too much about this but it’s genuinely a big deal to me, I’ve been writing songs for so long and have always seen myself as someone who was only allowed to be into girls. And then I started opening that up and now I feel just so so so much. and this song is the first one I'm gonna put out about a boy.”
