New York-based Canadian-Iranian singer-songwriter Rubina released the first single of 2024 called “Something To Listen To” on April 19, 2024.
Through her evocative vocals, infused with the soulful warmth of Persian intonation, the song weaves together a story of longing, love, and resilience that resonates on a deep level.
The track was written by Rubina Vejdani, and Rico Love who also produced it.
Rubina said of the song, “I wrote this song while trying to forget someone, but couldn't. It's all about the mess of moving on and feeling stuck. However, the beat makes me want to move, and I can feel serotonin like I'm dancing through the pain. You know the moment when you're out with friends, and then you pause and get reminded of him - even considering calling or texting him? I want this song to be a song for those moments. Dance through it, have fun with it. It's something to listen to to forget you.”- She shared on social media, “Did this one when I was just 16, trying to get through feelings for someone who just wouldn't fade out.
