  • Lava La Rue Announces Debut Album “STARFACE”, Premieres New Song “Push N Shuv” on BBC Radio 1

  • British-Jamaican singer-songwriter Lava La Rue has announced their debut album “STARFACE” will be released on June 21, 2024 via Dirty Hit.

The album is their first project in two years since the 2022 EP “Hi-Fidelity”.
The album comprises a 17-track, featuring guest appearances from Cuco, tendai, Audrey Nuna, NiNE8, Feux, So!YoON!, yunè pinku, and bb Sway.

Lava La Rue shared on social media, “Everyone who’s close to me knows I’ve been waiting my whole adult life to finally say these words...MY DEBUT ALBUM 'STARFACE' LANDS JUNE 21ST. I always knew from young I wanted my first album to be a concept album. it’s been years in the making and I’ve had the honour of composing it with many of my favourite musicians/artists around the world.”
  • From the album, Lava La Rue premiered the first single called “Push N Shuv” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The track was written by Aiwa Laurel and Sam Knowles. Produced by Karma Kid, Courage, Chloe Kraemer, and APOB.
The accompanying music video was directed by Lava La Rue and Claryn Chong.

Lava La Rue said of the song, “I wrote 'Push N Shuv' 5 years ago before COVID (the vocals you hear on the song are still my 21-year-old voice) and I knew when I wrote it in 2019 that if I made an album, that’s what I wanted it to sound like. It’s literally been years in the making and honing in on that sound and it only feels fitting that this is the song that I announce the album with.”

  • Lava La Rue told Clara Amfo abot the song, “The first single of my debut album, 'Push N Shuv' was written about five years ago when I was a first 21 years old. Today, I've made the creative decision to keep those original main vocal tapes for my younger self that you're hearing the master because I suppose at that point in my life, I knew I might want to make an album one day, but then I wasn't sure how might go about that. All I knew was that if I was going to make a record I wanted to reinvent some kind of like new wavy Talking Heads, TomTom Club kind of sound but with like a 2020s modern spin. I guess the rest of self explanatory, have a listen.”
