Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ r.mason Releases New Song “Velvet Shade”
Victoria-based indie rock band r.mason, consisting of Rebecca Mason (vocals/keyboards/guitar) and Jonathan Blokmanis (guitar), released a new song “Velvet Shade” on March 29, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “I Live Here Now”, which was released last September.
It was written by Rebecca Barritt, and produced by r.mason and Bob Gronotte.
The track features music textured with a paradoxical feeling of contradiction, which comes through lightness and tension, desperation, and transcendence.
“For years I have hated the way other people love - rom my father to friends to lovers,” Rebecca Mason said of the song. “Their love doesn't always look the way mine does, and like all other vibrations from our human feelings, I am fascinated by this.
