  • Chris Stapleton Performs “White Horse” & “Mountains Of My Mind” on Saturday Night Live

  • American country music singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform “White Horse” and “Mountains Of My Mind”.

This marks the third time Chris Stapleton has been the musical guest on the sketch show since 2018.
Both songs are featured on his fifth studio album “Higher”, which was released last November.
“White Horse” won Best Country Solo Performance and Country Song at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards back in February.
The track was written by Chris Stapleton and Dan Wilson. Produced by Dave Cobb, Chris Stapleton, and Morgane Stapleton.
This time, he performed the song with his band including his wife Morgane Stapleton.

Chris Stapleton said of the song, “'White Horse' was a song that I wrote with my friend, Dan Wilson. We were out in Los Angeles, it was about I think probably late 2012, early 2013, and there was a movie called The Lone Ranger that was coming out, and I walked in the room to write with Dan at his house, and he said, 'Hey they're looking for songs for this Lone Ranger movie.' I said, 'Cool. Let's write something. What do you know about it?' He goes, 'Well, we don't really know anything.' I was like, 'Well, let's just make a song that might sound like that.' And so, that's kind of where that came from, and we got to talking about how it would be cool to have a kind of rock-driven-western-themed song, and that's kind of where the song came from and we kind of built it around a guitar riff, really.”
  • “Mountains Of My Mind” was written by Chris Stapleton. Produced by Chris Stapleton, Dave Cobb, and Morgane Stapleton.

Chris Stapleton told Apple Music about the song, “'Mountains of my Mind' is one I wrote by myself, and my wife was just bawling in the control room the whole time I was playing it. I just woke up one morning and wrote that one. There's some of that 'not being able to get through the day' sometimes. I think everybody has those days.”
