Nashville-based singer-songwriter Dasha has dropped a new music video for “Austin” directed by Hunter Moreno.
She released the song as an independent artist last November.
The song went viral on TikTok and had been viewed 6 billion times. And the track reached No. 28 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 7 on the UK Singles chart.
Then, she singed to Warner Records and released her sophomore album “What Happens Now?” including “Austin” back in February.
She performed the song at the 2024 CMT Awards in Austin, Texas.
The track was written by Adam Wendler, Anna Dasha Novotny, Cheyenne Rose Arnspiger, and Kenneth Travis Heidelman. Produced by Travis Heidelman.
Dasha told Billboard about the song, “Once we kind of got the idea and the chords going, the song flew out in less than an hour. It just felt natural and everyone I showed that song to after that session was just like, 'This is going to be a really big song.' I never doubted it once and no one else did and we were right.”- She shared on social media, “Seeing my song come to life is the coolest thing in the world and i wouldn't be more proud of what we made. it's thanks to you guys loving my song that im even here in the first place.”

The new album “What Happens Now?” features country music unlike the debut album “Dirty Blonde”.
Dasha told Rolling Stone about the album, “I was in the pop world, but the songs were always so story-based. Upon releasing [Dirty Blonde] last year, I felt like, 'Why does this just not feel genuine to me?' And I went through a crisis for a few months thinking what the hell am I doing? Finally, it occurred to me that I needed to be country this whole time. I started writing this album early last year with that in mind, and it was so effortless to write.” - source : Apple Music
