American singer-songwriter Tori Kelly released her fifth studio album “TORI.” on April 5, 2024 via Epic and Beautiful Mind Records.
The album is extended the previous EP “tori”, which is similar name to the album.
It is the first release under her new label Epic Records. She signed to Epic Records in March 2023.
Also, it is her first album after recovering from health issues. Last October, she was hospitalized with blood clots in her leg and lungs.
Tori Kelly told Variety about Eric Records, “I feel like I had full control. The music's done, no one gets to say anything. You either take it or leave it. And I'm proud of this. So who's the most excited to work with me basically? Epic, just everything the way that they responded and everything they were saying about what we could do together just felt right.”- The album comprises a 15-track, including 7 songs from the EP, featuring guest appearances from Kim Chaewon of LE SSERAFIM, Ayra Starr, and Jon Bellion.
She produced the album by herself, with production by Tenroc, Jon Bellion, The Diner, Jason Cornet, Jonny Koh, The Monsters & Strangerz, P2J, and Johnny Simpson.
The album is an R&B and pop record with Y2K inspired sounds.
Tori Kelly said of the album, “I have been working on my next album for the last few years, exploring new sounds & expressing so many different sides of myself. I thought I had covered it all until I had a health scare in July of last year that reminded me just how fragile life can be.” -

“This song is about missing somebody, but it's also, just so inspired by the early 2000s, late '90s. We wanted to make sure that we got that nostalgic feeling both in the lyrics and in the music. I just knew, 'OK, when people listen to this, I want them to be transported. I want them to think about that era or just that nostalgic feeling,' whatever that is for them.
I've played it for some people who just cry when they hear this song because maybe they're thinking about a specific person, and there's other people who are just dancing in the club and not sad at all when they hear it. I love that about this song because I think everyone can relate to it in their own way. For me, I just want to blast it in my car and belt it out.”
“high water”
“My hope is that ['high water'] will uplift others in whatever they might be going through and encourage them to keep going. 'High Water' is about simply holding on and believing that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.” - source : Apple Music
