Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Ruel & DMA'S Team Up for New Song “What A Life”
British-Australian singer-songwriter Ruel and Australian rock band DMA'S teamed up to release a new song “What A Life” on March 27, 2024.
It is not their first collaboration, in the past, Ruel and DMA'S have worked together for Ruel's debut album “4th Wall”.
This time, the song is one of two songs that they recorded.
It was written by John Took, Matthew Mason, Ruel Vincent Van Dijk, and Thomas O'Dell. Produced by Konstantin Kersting.
DMA'S lead singer Tommy O'Dell said of the song, “Ruel is a special talent and we worked really well together through the writing and recording process. Things came together very naturally.”
Ruel added, “This one is a little removed from either of our sounds, so it was really fun to collaborate in a different way and write an up-tempo feel-good song”- Ruel and DMA'S shared on social media, “We first linked a couple of years ago to write for Ruel's debut album and being fans of each others music, it worked. From time to time we connected in the studio and wrote songs that we loved for each others projects.”
They continued, “The Ruel x DMA'S songs were building up until we felt it was the right time to do something with what we had.”
They added, “Finishing off these 2 songs with producer Kon Kersting felt right and we're all really keen for you all to hear what happens when you bring our worlds together. We hope you love it.” -
