British singer-songwriter Sonny Tennet released the second single called “Howay” from his upcoming debut album on March 29, 2024, following the release of “Panorama” last month.
The single title “Howay” means “Come On” in Geordie.
The song will be used as “soon to be football anthem” on televised Newcastle Utd games this year via Sky Sports.
It was written by David Landers, Ed Drewett, Harry Tarlton, Jo Perry, Kate Westall, and Stevie Tennet. Produced by David Landers, Harry Tarlton, and Jo Perry.
“The anthemic chant of Howay came to me completely out of thin air on my way to a songwriting session”, Sonny Tennet said of the song. “When I got to the studio, I asked the producer if I could sing the chant and bass line from my head. As I sang, the word 'Howay' came out and it just fit the melody. Howay in Geordie means 'Come On'. I'd just come off of tour and wanted a real entrance to my set on the next run. The song lyrically became about my love of the North, my family, my home, my team. I love how it turned out and can't wait for it to be out there.”- Sonny Tennet embarks on his headline tour in the UK. The tour kicks off at Whelan's in Dublin on May 14 and will conclude at Scala in London on May 31, 2024.
