Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Little Big Town Covers Phil Collins' “Take Me Home” featuring Sugarland
American country music vocal group Little Big Town, consisting of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook, teamed up with American country music duo Sugarland to release a cover of British singer-songwriter Phil Collins' “Take Me Home” on April on April 7, 2024.
This marks the second collaboration between Little Big Town and Sugarland since the 2008 cover of British band The Dream Academy's “Life in a Northern Town”.
Both artists first performed the song at the 2024 CMT Music Awards in Austin on April 7, 2024.
Also, Little Big Town embarks on the “Take Me Home” tour, named after Phil Collins' song, to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band.
The original version of the song was released by Phil Collins from his third solo album, “No Jacket Required” in 1985.
The track featured British singer-songwriter Sting and former Genesis bandmate Peter Gabriel as backing vocals.
The song reached No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The track was written by Phil Collins. The cover version was produced by Little Big Town and Kristian Bush.- Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild told Variety about the song, “This song was Kristian Bush's (of Sugarland) idea. and then we decided that we should get in the studio, because it sounded so good, and make it our own.”
Kimberly Schlapman continued, “I saw Phil Collins sing this song at the Omni in Atlanta when I was a kid and it was one of my first shows ever.”
Jimi Westbrook added, “It's just an iconic song with huge harmonies, and then 'Take Me Home' (as a title) felt relevant for the tour.” - The “Take Me Home” tour kicks off at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC on October 24, 2024 and will conclude at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN on December 13, 2024.
