British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone released a new EP “work in progress” on March 15, 2024.
Th EP is follow-up to her debut album “Paint My Bedroom Black”, which was released last October.
The EP comprises 4-track, produced by Rob Milton and Andrew Sarlo, featuring writing contributions from William Taylor, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Rob Milton, and Andrew Sarlo.
Holly Humberstone said of the EP, “I recently went back through my archives and rediscovered these demos and felt that I wanted to release them as a project without overthinking too much. This EP is lost older versions of myself mixed up with the present.”
She added, “I wanted to release them this year - as I start touring again and since the release of my debut album – as a work in progress for my fans.”- Holly Humberstone explained about some track for the EP.
“Dive”
“'Dive' is the first song I'm dropping today. I wrote it a few years ago as a kind of warning to a guy to not get involved with me. I was worried I'd hurt him. Whenever I think about the highs and lows of past and present relationships, it reminds me that life will always be evolving and changing in ways that I can't predict, and I think that's ok!” -
“Down Swinging”
“I wrote 'Down Swinging' around a time when I was feeling pretty low. I swing between moods pretty heavily from day to day and I guess I started off writing a song about being depressed, which at the chorus turns into something a little more uplifting. I felt like wallowing in self pity and then we wrote the chorus which says 'I can take it, give me hellfire'. I constantly need to give myself little reminders like that to push myself through the bad days – not to let my brain win and to not go down without a fight.” - source : Apple Music
