Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Villagers Releases New Song “You Lucky One”
Irish indie folk band Villagers released the second single called “You Lucky One” from their upcoming sixth studio album “That Golden Time” on March 12, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Conor J. O'Brien.
Also, the song features Irish folk musician Dónal Lunny on bouzouki, as with the previous song “That Golden Time”.
The track is associated with an Irish 20 pence piece which features on the album artwork.
The band lead singer Conor J. O'Brien said of the song, “The types of physical currency change throughout time, but the essential power relationships and bartering principles persevere throughout the cosmetic changes. I think it explores the often-simplified notion of privilege.”- The accompanied music video wad directed by Conor J. O'Brien. The video is his directorial debut.
Conor J. O'Brien said of the video, “The video, much like the song, is a complicated, messy affair full of hellish landscapes and internal demons. It exists in a world conquered by irrational beings and emotional, selfish creatures. Corruption of the soul and disingenuous motivation are the order of the day, so I thought it best to serve with a side plate of the macabre and sinister.”
The new album is set to be released on May 10, 2024. It is their first album in three years since the 2021 album “Fever Dreams”. -
