Last year, American singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope returned to her pop-punk roots from country music.
On this genre, she released four singles “People That I Love Leave”, “Almost There”, “Coma” with Taylor Acorn, and “Wasting All These Tears (Cassadee's Version)”, which was a new rock version of her smash country hit.
Following the songs, she released a new song “Eye Contact” on March 22, 2024.
It was written by Cassadee Pope, Devon Lewow, and Mitch Marlow who also produced the track.
The track divulges experiences of betrayal and its lasting impacts.
“I wanted to write a song about the lasting effects a liar has on someone else,” Cassadee Pope said of the song. “Sometimes the very thought of maintaining eye contact with someone after being betrayed can feel impossible. I wanted to compliment the lyric with a heavy approach sonically and I feel like that really gets the frustration across.”- The song will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album.
