  • Ships In The Night Drops New Music Video for “The Fire”

  • New York-based singer-songwriter Alethea Leventhal, aka Ships In The Night dropped a new music video for “The Fire” on April 19, 2024.

The song is featured on her second studio album “Latent Powers”, which was released in October 2021 via Cleopatra Records.
The track was written and produced by Alethea Leventhal.

“The Fire is a meaningful song for me because it chronicles the lifelong struggle I've had with sleep,” Alethea Leventhal said of the song and video. “Insomnia and nightmares have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I wanted the music video for the song to show some of the nightmares which seem to live in the collective unconscious- losing our teeth, showing up in public and realizing that you're naked, being lost and confused in an old house that feels familiar yet scary. We all live different lives with so many different experiences, yet when we sleep our minds wander to similar, strange places.”
  • She shared on social media, “This song chronicles my eternal love-hate relationship with sleep and the dreams, night terrors, insomnia, sleep paralysis and narcolepsy she has cursed and graced me with throughout my life. The video reflects some of the nightmares which live in our collective unconscious. I dedicate this video to the memory of my friend Fielding, who sewed the red sequin jumpsuit I'm wearing by hand, and always turned everything he touched into beauty.”
