  • Frank Turner Releases New Song “Letters”

  • Back in January, British singer-songwriter Frank Turner announced his upcoming tenth studio album “Undefeated” would be released on May 3, 2024 via Xtra Mile Recordings.

The album comprises a 14-track, and follows up his first UK No. 1 2022 album “FTHC”.
It is the result of his decision to step away from the major label world to re-embrace the liberation of working as an independent artist, Frank Turner said, “my first back home with a global independent label setup (still with Xtra Mile of course).”
From the album, he released the fourth single called “Letters” on March 25, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Frank Turner, with co-writer by Matt Nasir.

Frank Turner said of the song, “'Letters' is a song that I've been working on for a long time; in some ways I've been writing it since a genuine pen-friendship of mine dried up when I was a kid, when the mix-tapes stopped coming through the post. It's a song about communication and its breakdown, about nostalgia for teenage romance, and about how reassessing those things as an adult can be the start of a healing process.”
  • He said of the new album, “There are no clichés about the difficult 10th album, so in some ways, that's a liberating statement. But at the same time, I have a duty to justify writing and releasing a 10th album. That's a lot of records for anybody. Also, I'm 42. Which is not a sexy, rock'n'roll age. But all through my career, I've been interested in writers like Loudon Wainwright III or The Hold Steady, people who write about adulthood, essentially.”

  • He shared about the album on social media, “I feel very fortunate that I'm still making records and touring - fortunate and proud. The record is fired by that feeling, and a new sense of energy and liberation. It feels like a new chapter for me – post pandemic, back as an Indie artist and with a new Sleeping Souls line up. Returning with a slightly bewildered sense of gratitude that I'm still standing, still have something to say.”
