Dutch singer-songwriter philine released a new song “green” on April 5, 2024 via Nettwerk.
The song will appear on her upcoming EP, which is expected to be released later this year.
It was written by Loek van der Grinten, Melle Boddaert, and Phillippine Nancy Corporaal. Produced by Lukaz.
She wrote the song after psychedelic experience during the trip with her girlfriend.
philine said of the song, “I wrote it after my first psychedelic experience. During the trip, everything seemed so connected, and I realized that how we perceive the world shapes our reality. This moment really changed the way I look at life. ‘Green’ is about embracing what unites us all and seeing the beauty and love in everything.”- philine shared on social media, “A little back story. two summers ago, I went camping with my (now) girlfriend in the middle of nowhere, and we had taken some mushrooms. It was my first time and we just started dating. I set an intention. I wanted to experience a connection with nature, but I had no idea what to expect.”
She continued, “During the trip, I felt a lot of things. It was a very calm, beautiful and light experience, & it gave me so many insights. One of them being: how i perceive the world, that’s what becomes my truth. It makes no sense to judge anyone else for their opinions, because they perceive the world in their own way, shaped by their own beliefs and experiences. In that way, we’re all connected and the same.” -
She added, “The song 'green' has many meanings to me, but most of all, I tried to capture the feeling of this experience. I tried to capture how there’s love in everything, and how our perception determines whether we can see it or not. This song is my reminder to this, when all I can see is clutter and negativity. And it’s also a bit of a love song to the person showing me this world. I hope it brings you something like this too.”
