Jacob McCurdy Returns With New Song “Trouble”
Portland Maine-based singer-songwriter Jacob McCurdy returned with a new song “Trouble” on June 21, 2024.
The song is his first music in a year since “Out On The Run”, which was released last April.
Having overcome a challenging period of health issues, including a stroke that temporarily sidelined his music career, the track digs into themes of resilience and hope in the face of adversity.
Co-written with Mike Maurice, Jordan Brooks and Alex Calabrese, the song emerged from late-night jam sessions and collaborative songwriting sessions.
He has already filmed a music video for the song, which is coming on July 24, 2024.
Jacob McCurdy said of the song, “Co-writing these songs has been like therapy for me. I think writing them helped me get through a break-up, a pandemic, and my own anxiety.”- He shared on social media, “Almost to the minute one year ago I was shooting the cover art for my next single 'Trouble'. Shortly after this photo was taken, I had a dissection of my right carotid artery caused by Fibromuscular Dysplasia (and climbing a tree). This caused an ischemic stroke. Thankfully my wonderful girlfriend Hannah Jenkins called 911 as soon as I started acting strangely. A clot buster shot was administered within 20 minutes of the incident. And that certainly saved my life. I spent the next few days in the hospital I kept arguing with the doctors saying I was fine and that I wanted to go home. I wasn’t fine. They would have me close my eyes and lift both legs and then both arms. It felt as though I was doing this with ease but in reality the left side wasn’t coming up much if at all in the first 24 hours. Over the next day or two my strength started returning, so they let me go and stay at my mothers. With a weight lifting limit and I wasn’t allowed to belt big long high notes. My first day home I was able to play guitar and sing a little which was reassuring. There was always this bit of disconnect between how I felt and what my body could do. I wanted to jump right back into playing shows and living my life. it took some time for my left hand to remember how to play all of the songs I know and it still has 'trouble' with a few songs one year later.”
