Calum Scott Releases New Song “Roots”
Back in May, British singer-songwriter Calum Scott contributed his song “Then There Was You” to the animated film “The Garfield Movie” soundtrack.
This marked his first ever experience working on the soundtrack.
Following the song, he released a new single called “Roots” on July 12, 2024.
The track was written by Calum Scott, Jon Maguire, Mike Needle, and Richard Boardman. Produced by SixSaidIt, Dino Medanhodzic, and Jon 'MAGS' Maguire.
The accompanying lyric video was directed by Tom Bailey and Pierre Hopkins, who filmed in Malta.
The new song is the latest in a series of singles spotlighting his more lighthearted side and pop-leaning sensibilities.- “I wrote 'Roots' as a reminder of the good times and the carefree moments that take you back to a place of nostalgia and memories of loved ones imortalised in pure elation,” Calum Scott said of the song. “It's a fiery, in-your-face, up-tempo pop song and even though I wanted to continue to show my fans my musical diversity exploring fresh sounds, at its core 'Roots' is a lyrical reflection of a yearning for times gone by and the realization that "my roots" are my family, my friends, my city; the people and the places that raised me. I've achieved things I could never have imagined, experiencing dizzying highs and heavy lows but without 'my roots,' I don't know where I'd be.”
