GIFT Releases New Song “Later”
Last month, Brooklyn-based psych-rock band GIFT, consisting of TJ Freda (vocals/guitar), Gabe Camarano (drums), Kallan Campbell (bass), Jessica Gurewitz (multi-instrumentalists) and Justin Hrabovsky (multi-instrumentalists), announced their sophomore album “Illuminator” would be released on August 23, 2024.
The debut album “Momentary Presence” was released back in 2022 as the solo project of the band frontman TJ Freda, but the new album is the release as full band.
The album comprises a 11-track, produced by TJ Freda and Justin Hrabovsky.
From the album, the band released the thied single called “Later” on June 25, 2024, following “Going In Circles” and “Wish Me Away”.
The track was written and produced by Jessica Gurewitz, and TJ Freda.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sophia Feuer and Jessica Gurewitz.
“While writing Illuminator I found myself clinging to intense emotions, reluctant to release them,” TJ Freda said of the song in a statement. “'Later' stands out as one of the darkest songs I've made. Making it was cathartic, diving into darker themes. The song explores surrendering to the overwhelming sensation of life slipping away before my eyes.”- Jessica Gurewitz added, “I wanted to explore the internal confusion that comes with the passage of time. I was reading a lot of horror stories while we shot this and I wanted to bring those to the screen by exploring unknown places and questioning timelines. Working with Sophia Feuer (Director, DP, Editor) was amazing and she made it possible to bring this vision to life.”
The band shared on social media, “A song about embracing darker moments and the passage of time. 'Later' was a big stepping stone for 'Illuminator' - being the first song that pushed us into a new direction that influenced the rest of the album.” -
