Mae Stephens Announces Debut EP “Securely Insecure”, Shares New Song “Small Town Syndrome”
British singer-songwriter Mae Stephens has announced her upcoming debut EP “Securely Insecure” will be released on August 2, 2024.
The EP comprises a 4-track, including three original songs and a cover of American rock band Kings Of Leon's “Use Somebody”.
From the EP, Mae Stephens released the first single called “Small Town Syndrome” on July 12, 2024.
She first teased the song on TikTok in September 2022.
The song delves into the difficulties of living in a close-knit community with little privacy through her own experiences.
It was written by Mae Stephens, and Ollie Green who also produced the track.
“It's about being in a small town and everyone knowing everyone's business,” Mae Stephens said of the song. “The lyrics tell you how I was hiding behind walls, putting on a brave face while feeling the weight of gossip and judgment. The chorus reflects the struggle to find a way out of this, resonating with anyone who's ever felt stuck and misunderstood in a close-knit community. The song's main theme is really of those dreaming of escape and new beginnings.”- Mae Stephens shared on social media, “I first posted a small snippet of 'Small Town Syndrome' in September 2022 on TikTok, I would have never guessed that I would have the opportunity to share it with so many people! This song has a very special place in my heart as it explores some of my rawest emotions while growing up, when I felt stuck and wanted more than anything to get away from the gossip.”
