  • Eminem Releases New Album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)”

  • American rapper Eminem released his twelfth studio album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)” on July 12, 2024 via Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records.

This marks the first album in four years since the 2020 album “Music to Be Murdered By”.
The album comprises a 19-track, featuring collaborations with White Gold, Sly Pyper, Bizarre, JID, Dem Jointz, Ez Mil, Skylar Grey, Big Sean, BabyTron, and Jelly Roll.
Produced by Eminem, alongside Cole Bennett, Benny Blanco, Callus, Car!ton, Don Cannon, Cubeatz, Daniyel, Dem Jointz, Dr. Dre, Emile, Fredwreck, DJ Premier, Marvy Ayy, Carlton McDowell, John Nocito, D.A. Got That Dope, Mr. Porter, Luis Resto, and White Gold.
  • The album marks the final act for Slim Shady, who is the alter ego of Eminem.
This persona was developed to give voice to Eminem's id, often through vulgar and violent lyrics. Slim Shady first appeared on Eminem's second album “The Slim Shady” in 1999.
Back in May, Eminem issued a fake obituary for Slim Shady on the Detroit Free Press newspaper, in which the article said, “Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world.”

Eminem said of the album, “Public Service Announcement: the 'The Death of Slim Shady' is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

  • “Temporary” with Skylar Grey
Skylar Grey said, “I had bad writers block all of last year. I was banging my head against the wall trying to come up with anything worth a shit. Then out of nowhere, 'Temporary' happened. I haven't written much of anything worth a shit since. But if this is all I have to show for a year of effort, I'd say it was well worth the struggle. Incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Eminem again, especially on a song as deeply personal as this. Sorry for the tears... but I promise they're.”

“Tobey” with Big Sean and BabyTron
Big Sean said, “Not gon hold you, Slim Shady LP was the first CD i bought wit my own money at Costco. Me and Eminem bout 4 songs in now (DVE, No Favors, Detroit 2 cypher) but being on the Death Of Slim Shady is full circle. I aint know when I bought that, that id be one of the next 1's out da city. Let alone even know Eminem. A reminder to myself of how real unrealistic really is.”

“Somebody Save Me” with Jelly Roll
Jelly Roll said, “I always say my childhood hero's lived somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem. As a teenager (and still today) I could recite every song on the Slim Shady album, the Marshal Mathers album and the Eminem show. When I bonded out of jail at 17 years old and was sneaking into cyphers and battles in Nashville they would also play the 'lose yourself' beat when I came out on stage at the freestyle battles. I related to every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and felt like he understood me, which was rare cause I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood. So you can imagine how I felt when I got that the call that Eminem would be sampling my song 'Save Me' on his new album. And for him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could've happened if he would've allowed his demons to win brought me to tears. If you haven't heard it yet, check out 'Somebody Save Me' on Eminem's new album 'the death of slim shady' special shout out to Paul Rosenberg , you've been nothing but kind to me and treated me like family and gave me opportunities I didn't deserve, forever grateful.”
