London-based singer-songwriter Sody premiered a new song “you won't even try” on BBC Radio 1's Future Pop with Maia Beth.
For Sody, the song is the first music, following the 2023 single “Missing Me” and the EP “Star Potential” as an independent artist.
The song is about an unrequited long distance relationship.
“I'm on the train home heading back from Stockholm crying into my coat / last thing you said was that you can't be with me / unless I'm in your city,” she sings. “Cause I want you anywhere, I don't know why / I would but you won't even try”
The track was written by Sarcastic Sounds, Hayden Robert Hubers, and Sophie Dyson. Produced by Dylan Nash.
The accompanying music video was directed by Joakim Wijk, who filmed in Stockholm.- Sody shared on social media, “They won't do long distance but you would. I've spent way too much money on the Arlanda Express and cried way too many tears loooool. Thank you to Sarcastic Sounds, Hayd for writing it with me and Dylan Nash, Lee Smith, Stuart Hawkes for bringing it to life! my full thank yous are coming soon - not ready for the soppiness just yet haha. Filmed in Stockholm (my favourite place in the world) with my very talented friend Joakim Wijk one snowy evening.”
