  • John Cale Announces New Album “POPtical Illusion”, Shares New Song “How We See The Light”

  • Welsh composer and American rock band The Velvet Underground co-founder, John Cale has announced his 18th studio album “POPtical Illusion” will be released on June 14, 2024.


    The album is the follow-up to the 2023 album “MERCY” and comprises a 13-track.
    On the album, John Cale worked with longtime partner Nita Scott in Los Angeles.
    According to a press release, John Cale wrote more than 80 songs in a period of a little over a year for the album.
    The album synthesises those emotions and enthusiasms into a dozen electronic playgrounds.
    The statement adds, he was inspired by hip-hop and how the genre wields technology to create multi-dimensional textures or build surprising melodies.
  • From the album, he released the first single called “How We See The Light” on March 25, 2024.
    The track was written and produced by John Cale, with production by Nita Scott.
    The accompanying music video was directed by Pepi Ginsberg.
