Bleecker Street has debuted the first official trailer for the new Steven Soderbergh heist film "Logan Lucky". The film stars Adam Driver, Channing Tatum, Riley Keough, Daniel Craig, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, and Jesco White.
The film draws a pair of dumb country brothers stealing all the money that gets moved underground for the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. But for that, they need a little bit of help from an actual smart person.
Channing Tatum and Adam Driver play country brothers Jimmy Logan and Clyde Logan. Daniel Craig plays Joe Bang, who is a tatted up, incarcerated felon and helps them.
The film is scheduled to be released on August 18, 2017.
This movie is Soderbergh's first film in four years since "Behind the Candelabra". After "Behind the Candelabra", he has announced his retirement from film directing. But in February 2016, Soderbergh ended his retirement from feature films to direct a NASCAR heist film. He started to shoot the film in August 2016.
About the film, a director Steven Soderbergh told Entertainment Weekly;
"On the most obvious level, it’s the complete inversion of an Ocean’s movie. It’s an anti-glam version of an Ocean’s movie. Nobody dresses nice. Nobody has nice stuff. They have no money. They have no technology. It’s all rubber band technology, and that’s what I thought was fun about it. It seemed familiar to me, but different enough. The landscape, the characters, and the canvass were the complete opposite of an Ocean’s film. What was weird is that I was working as a producer on Ocean’s Eight while we were shooting Logan, and it was kind of head-spinning. That’s like a proper Ocean’s film. This is a version of an Ocean’s movie that’s up on cement blocks in your front yard."- Title:
