  • MotoGP San Marino GP: Jorge Martin Takes Pole Position, Wins Sprint Race at Misano

  • The Round 12 of MotoGP 2023, Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano Adriatico on September 9, 2023.

This time, Dani Pedrosa (Red Bull KTM), who retired in 2018, participated in the event as KTM wildcard.
In Qualifying, Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati) took the pole position with lap record 1'30.390s. It is his first pole position since the 2022 Valencia GP.
The 2nd position was Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Ducati) behind Jorge Martin by +0.397s.
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) returned from his horror crash in Barcelona last week and finished 3rd.
KTM wildcard, Dani Pedrosa will start on 2nd row as 5th beside Aprilia duo Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing).
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM), Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Ducati) and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) will start on 3rd row.

In the Sprint Race, poleman Jorge Martin took his third victory, following French GP and German GP.
Marco Bezzecchi was 2nd and Francesco Bagnaia was 3rd, it was the same position as in Qualifying.
Dani Pedrosa was still strong and finished 4th ahead of his team-mate Brad Binder. He took his best result since Valencia 2017.
Joan Mir (Repsol Honda ) was handed a long-lap penalty for exceeding track limits before receiving a second for failing to serve the first properly.
Franco Morbidelli (Monster Yamaha) was also handed a long lap penalty for exceeding track limits but was handed a three-second penalty for failing to serve it.
Additionally, Johann Zarco (Pramac Ducati) was dropped one position to 14th after exceeding track limits on the last lap.

Jorge Martin said, “Today was a great day with the lap record; I was expecting it to be more difficult in the first few laps, and Marco pushed me a lot, so I had to be at the limit all the time. I was at the absolute limit and I'm so happy to win today; hopefully, tomorrow I will feel even stronger.”
Francesco Bagnaia said, “It was very difficult, but we are in Misano, so I had to be strong and give a good show to the fans. It's something incredible (to finish third), considering the pain I felt while riding. The feeling during the race wasn't happy, but I'm always happy to be on the podium. I want to say congratulations to Jorge. He did a great job.”
