AURORA Announces New Album “The Gods We Can Touch”, Premieres New Song “Giving In To The Love” on Triple J
- Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA announced her third studio album “The Gods We Can Touch” would be released on January 21, 2022.
The album is her first LP in three years and contains 15-track produced by AURORA and Magnus Skylstad.
From the album, she premiered a new song “Giving In To The Love” on Triple J.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Cure for Me”. It was written and produced by AURORA and Magnus Skylstad.
The track is inspired by Prometheus of the OG Greek myth.
“I was thinking – one day, as you do - about how he supposedly made mankind in clay, and how he stole the fire from the gods to make us alive and complete us,” AURORA said. “I was thinking about this clay and how much we obsess with this clay that kind of means nothing. And how it seems to distract us from the value of the fire that we keep inside. That's very sad.”
The new album was recorded during a month-long stay at a castle Baroniet Rosendal in Norway.
She said of the album “The Gods We Can Touch”, “The spiritual door between the human and the gods is a very complicated thing. In the right hands faith can become the most beautiful thing. Nurturing and warm. And in the wrong hands it can become a beacon of war and death. One thing that has always bothered me is the idea that we're born unworthy having to deem ourselves worthy by suppressing the forces within us that make us human.”
She continued, “Not perfect, not flawless, just human. Could we find this Divine power in ourselves, while still being attached and seduced to the wonders of the world. The flesh, the fruit and the wine. I think that is what intrigues me about the Greek gods. The gods of the ancient world. Perfectly imperfect. Almost within our reach. Like gods we can touch.”
