  • Aaron Pollock Returns With New Song “About Her”

  • Calgary-based singer-songwriter Aaron Pollock returned with a new song “About Her” on October 1, 2021.

It is his first single since “I Don't Drink Whiskey Anymore”, which was released last July.
The song is an energetic yet heartfelt tribute to an individual that is captivating beyond everyday description.
It was written by Aaron Pollock, Lydia Sutherland and Chris Yurchuck. Produced by Giordan Postorino.
He recorded the song remotely during the COIVD-19 pandemic. Aaron Pollock said, “We recorded this one at the height of the pandemic, and as Giordan lives in Toronto we had to do it remotely. Giordan played every instrument, did all of the programming, and mixed the song himself (like a boss).”
He said of the song, “Some people light a fire inside of you. Every once in a while, we're lucky to meet somebody that completely rocks our world and words don't even come close to doing them justice. This song is my attempt at describing how those people make us feel.”
He added, “My favourite lyric in this song is “doesn’t need a neon to make her shine/she’s a little more New York at night/that city don’t sleep/neither do I”. To me those lines really sum up how it feels when one of these magnetic, electrifying individuals walks into your life.”
  • Aaron Pollock shared on social media, “Today I'd like to recognize my co-writers on this tune - Chris Yurchuck and Lydia Sutherland. It's really difficult for me to state just how skilled these two geniuses are at songwriting. If you've worked with either of them even once you know. I have zero doubt that you could put either in any writing room in the world and whoever else was in that room would be blown away.”
He continued, “I've known Chris for a few years now. Songwriting is what I feel like my 'purpose' is in this life, and Chris has been the mentor that's shown me what mastery of this craft looks like. His intellect and experience together create songs where every single line is special, profound, and deeply moving. I can't count the amount of times we've been in a co-write and I've watched him go quiet, just to spit out a line minutes later that drops every single jaw in the room. This happens every time. I met Lydia little over a year ago, but in that time we've written over 200 songs together. In this time she's made a name for herself across Canada and the US as an absolute star in the making. It's a very rare occasion for a day to end with her having written less than three songs. She's also one of the best singers I've ever heard, but what's even more special than her talent is the heart inside. She'll write and perform the most gorgeous song you've ever heard in under an hour and make it look effortless. It's like watching Tiger swing a golf club but more cry-inducing. I truly believe that this girl's going to end up with a shelf of Guinness world records sitting next to Grammys. I couldn't imagine my life without either of these people, and because of them I'm sitting on a collection of tunes that I couldn't love more. These two have greatness in their futures, and I couldn't be more grateful to get to cheer them on and have them in my corner.”
