  • John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen Team Up for New Song “Wasted Days”

  • American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp recruited singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen for a new song “Wasted Days”.

The song is the lead single off of his upcoming album “Strictly A One-Eyed Jack”.
The track was written and produced by John Mellencamp. The accompanying music video was directed by Thom Zimny, who filmed it in Bruce Springsteen's home state of New Jersey earlier in September.
Back in 1988, Bruce Springsteen joined in John Mellencamp's show. Since then they have performed together a few more times.
Last their performance was at the 13th annual Stand Up for Heroes to benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation at The Hulu Theater in New York in 2019, where they played “Glory Days” and “Pink Houses”.
But the new song is their first-ever on-record duet. Bruce Springsteen performed three songs on John Mellencamp's new album.
“I worked on three songs on John's album and I spent some time in Indiana with him,” Bruce Springsteen revealed. “I love John a lot. He's a great songwriter and I have become very close [with him] and had a lot of fun with him. I sang a little bit on his record.”
The new album was scheduled for release in 2020, but the pandemic has pushed its release time frame back indefinitely.
John Mellencamp resumed recording on the project in March 2021, including the 17 new songs he wrote while in quarantine in 2020.
In May 2021, he revealed that he recently finished the album.
