American rock trio X Ambassadors, consisting of Sam Harris, Casey Harris and Adam Levin, released their third studio album “The Beautiful Liar” on September 24, 2021. It is their first album in two years.
“The Beautiful Liar” takes the form of an audiobook and tells the story of a blind teenager who struggles with anxiety, discovers her long-dormant superpowers and, eventually, attains self-acceptance. Her story is told in a series of songs interspersed by a few unhinged rants and smooth-tongued chapter narrations.
Sam Harris came up with the idea of a cartoon shadow chasing the people around that was inspired by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.
Sam Harris said, “I came up with this just random story about a blind girl whose shadow comes to life and starts talking to her and describing the world to her and guiding her through it.”
The album comprises of 16-track, produced by Andrew Wells, Tommy English, Ricky Reed and Nate Merceau.
“For the The Beautiful Liar I wanted to make an album that felt as unhinged as I did, and as the whole world felt around me,” Sam Nelson Harris said of the album. “So Adam, Casey and I carved ourselves a space where we could all be as ugly, weird, funny, and fucked up as we wanted to be. We made the whole album unequivocally ours with the help of our incredible producer Andrew Wells, co-producers Tommy English, Ricky Reed, Nate Merceau, songwriters K.Flay and Andrew Jackson. It is, I think, the most accurate representation of my brain. And I'm so lucky to have had Casey and Adam by my side, making a safe space for me to shout my feelings out into the void. Coming back together now and getting ready to take this album on tour, after all the separation and isolation we've had to endure over the last 2 years, has reminded me just how much I love being in this band. They are my brothers, literally and figuratively, and I would die for them.”- He continued, “Honestly, I'm still struggling with the idea of letting go and surrendering to the chaos of my life. I'm still learning how to love myself, completely. But what I have learned is this: those parts of me that I've been so afraid of acknowledging— my rage, my fear, envy, selfishness, vindictiveness (just to name a few)— are all parts of who I am, whether I like it or not. And I can't learn to love myself unless I learn to love them too. Welcome to the world of THE BEAUTIFUL LIAR. I hope this album freaks you out, makes you cry, makes you laugh, and makes you feel a little less alone.”
X Ambassadors embarks on The Beautiful Liar on the road this fall. The trek begins in North America with a show at San Diego, California's House of Blues on October 15 and wraps in Sankt-peterburg, Russia on March 18, 2022. - source : Apple Music
