Raissa Releases New Song “FREE”
Malaysian-British singer-songwriter Raissa has released a new song “FREE” via Mark Ronson's Zelig Records/Columbia.
The song is her first single since the debut EP “HEROGIRL”, which was released back in March.
The track was written by Raissa and Nate Donmoyer. The accompanying music video was directed by Clyde Munroe.
Raissa said of the song, “it's an internal battle, where caring too much and feeling weak for it, wanting to be cool and strong and unbothered like my idols while trying to remind myself that they wouldn't be my idols if I couldn't identify the human emotions they (and I also) go through in their art. That they probably go through things just as much as anybody else.”- She shared on social media, “I wrote FREE after a period of a lot of self doubt, I was trying to remind myself that all these big intense feelings I have are probably also what makes me an artist. And that the people I look up to probably go through the same thing which is why I'm able to relate to them in the first place. I wanna thank Nate Donmoyer for being a creative refuge for me - He nurtured me throughout this pandemic and now I feel brave again. I'm really excited for all the Art coming your way. I love you thank you for being patient with me. I hope this song will make you feel FREE”
