Jimkata Announces New Album “Bonfires”, Releases New Song “Writing On The Wall”
American electro-rock trio Jimkata, consisting of Evan Friedell, Aaron Gorsch and Packy Lunn, announced their fifth studio album “Bonfires” would be released on July 9, 2021.
It is their first album in five years, after taking a two and a half year hiatus.
The trio shared on social media, “We're pleased to announce that our new album 'Bonfires' will be available in full on July 9th. 🔥 We ran into some delays with getting vinyl manufactured in time (a strange side effect of the pandemic) and honestly, this has been the most ambitious release process we've ever undertaken during a pretty tumultuous time. Sure enough, we found a few bumps in the road along the way in terms of getting the timing right.”
From the album, the trio unveiled a new song “Writing On The Wall” along with a music video directed by Elnaz Mansouri.
Evan Friedell said of the song, “I was unsure of what direction to go in life and all the while the world outside seemed bleak-- mass shootings, a hateful Twitter troll in charge of the country, climate change escalating, racist police violence… this song is a pressure release valve for all those dark moments you have, and I'm sure we've all had a few in the past year of turbulence.”- He shared about the album, “A few years ago, I really could not have imagined how we would pull off releasing ten singles with an accompanying music video for each song. I also could not have imagined doing so in a time where it was forbidden to play live music. Life is full of unexpected plot twists and I find it fitting that this album thematically centers on that uncertainty a lot. And yet here we are beginning again as a band just as all of us are beginning again after this last year. I think I speak for all of us in the band as well as our management team when I say again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We truly could not have pulled this off without you. We're beyond excited to see you all at shows again and share in this ecstatic feeling!”
