Wolf Alice Releases New Album “Blue Weekend”: Streaming
British alt-rock band Wolf Alice, consisting of Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar, piano), Theo Ellis (bass guitar), Joff Oddie (guitar) and Joel Amey (drums), released their third studio album “Blue Weekend” along with a new music video for “How Can I Make It OK?” on June 4, 2021 via Dirty Hit.
It is their first LP in four years. The album comprises of 11-track, including preceding singles “The Last Man on Earth”, “Smile”, “No Hard Feelings” and “How Can I Make It OK?”. Produced by Markus Dravs. The accompanying music video was directed by Jordan Hemingway.
The band started working on the album after they've finished touring in 2019.
Ellie Rowsell said of the album, “This album is for other people. Sometimes you hear a song and it makes you feel better, or you hear a song and it makes you feel seen. I remember feeling blue about something, and thinking, 'I wonder what songs I can listen to that will be about what I'm feeling right now'”- j5VG2XWUEbA
“Each song represents its own story,” she told Apple Music. “But with hindsight there are some running themes. It's a lot about relationships with partners, friends, and with oneself, so there are themes of love and anxiety. Each song, though, can be enjoyed in isolation. Just as I find solace in writing and making music, I'd be absolutely chuffed if anyone had a similar experience listening to this. I like that this album has different songs for different moods. They can rage to 'Play the Greatest Hits,' or they can feel powerful to 'Feeling Myself,' or 'they can have a good cathartic cry to 'No Hard Feelings.' That would be lovely.”
Also, the band will premiere the film “Blue Weekend” at Picturehouse Central, directed by Jordan Hemingway on June 10th.
Wolf Alice shared on social media, “Last winter we began making a visual feast for your eyes. Set on a night out we wanted to bring the music of Blue Weekend to life with this beautiful film directed by Jordan Hemingway. Pints and ciggies have literally never looked this good lol. This was an amazing experience and we really hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Thank you to our incredible team. BLUE WEEKEND will be screened for the first time on Thursday 10th of June at Picturehouse Central and we'll also be playing an acoustic show.”-
