Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Charm of Finches Releases New Song “Gravity”
Melbourne based alt-folk sister duo Charm of Finches released a new song “Gravity”.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming debut album, following “Pockets of Stones” and “Treading Water”.
It was written by Mabel Windred-Wornes and Ivy Windred-Wornes.
Charm Of Finches shared on social media, “This song reflects on toxic positivity and how this can often be a way of avoiding feeling (and acknowledging) sadness and grief. Popular culture feeds us the idea that if we believe and wish hard enough, miracles will happen, dreams will come true, people will survive life threatening illness etc., like some kind of rainbows and unicorns karma theory. Realising this is a falsehood by experiencing a shocking, unfortunate event leads us to being disheartened and disillusioned.”
The duo added,“ When writing this song we combined our experiences of being in a relationship and using a kind of blind hope to avoid the difficulties, as well as using hope to cope with the fear of losing a dear friend to an illness.”
One day before of the release of the song, the duo dropped a new music video for previous song “Treading Water”, directed by Charm of Finches themselves.
