Nashville-based alt-pop band COIN released a new EP “Indigo Violet” on October 22nd.
The EP comprises of 4-track and follows up their third album “Dreamland”, which was released back in February.
“Indigo Violet” is the first of a 3-part project called “Rainbow MixTape”, each EP conceptualized by moods represented by the colors in the title. The band plans to release other EPs over the next several months.
Frontman Chase Lawrence said, “Sometimes, consuming music on the internet is like seeing a 2D version of an artist. We wanted to give our audience a full picture of who we are and where we are. Rainbow Mixtape is a collection of EPs organized by theme and color. Each color EP is from a different corner of our brains, sonically and lyrically. From early 2000s rock to 60s love songs to modern hip hop. From what it means to be human to love to heartbreak. Rainbow Mixtape is a holographic image of COIN.”- On November 11th, the trio released a new music video for “Make It Stop” from the EP.
Chase Lawrence said of the song, “thirty minutes before going on stage in Kansas City, I got a phone call. I found out my dad had cancer. This day made me realize how fragile it all is. We continue to fine tune our machines to work better and run faster until we've built them so well that there's no stopping them. I'm not asking for a change or a time machine, but every now and then, it's important to even acknowledge what's actually important: living.”
