Norma Jean Martine Returns With New Song “Basketball”
- London-based American singer-songwriter Norma Jean Martine retuned with a new song “Basketball”. It is her first single since her 2016 debut album “Only in My Mind”.
The accompanying music video was shot by Norma Jean Martine herself.
“Writing this song was sort of therapy for me to work out if the first boyfriend was a rebound boy, or if the new one was. I was trying to work out why I needed to be with someone constantly, and why I was so afraid to be alone,” Norma Jean Martine said of the song. “I was a person that thrived off of outside validation. I wasn’t comfortable with myself, and I didn’t love myself in a genuine, authentic way, so I needed continuous approval; as a singer, a songwriter, a woman, and a person.”
Norma Jean Martine is better known as a songwriter for Italian singer Giorgia's 2013 Top Ten hit "Quando una Stella Muore" from the Italian number one double-platinum album “Senza Paura”. Also she wrote "Lonely Nights (Hey You)" on former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts' 2014 album “Butterfly Effect”. And she co-wrote two songs from Marco Mengoni's 2014 triple-platinum album “Parole in Circolo”, as well as "In the Light" for German Eurovision winner Lena's 2015 album “Crystal Sky”.
