Bastille Premieres New Song “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” featuring Graham Coxon
- British alt-pop band Bastille premiered a new song “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” on July 30th. It is their first single following their third studio album “Doom Days” released in 2019.
This time, the bend teamed up with English singer-songwriter Graham Coxon. Produced by Mark Crew and Dan Smith.
The accompanying animated music video was directed by Reza Dolatabadi.
Frontman Dan Smith said of the song, “So here's “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” our new song and the start of a new thing. We wanted to make something totally different and we're hoping to constantly surprise you guys with everything we do next. We'd always planned to take a break this year – who knew the world would suddenly stop – and we've used it to recharge a bit and give our process a shake up. Making this music has been a brilliant distraction for us during what has been a fucking weird year for everyone, and hopefully the song is a raucous, loud 2 minutes of eye-rolling escapism for you.”
- He continued, “The video is the brain child of the incredibly talented animator Reza, and hopefully it'll temporarily transport you off to a weird intergalactic animated dreamscape. We wanted it to be as much of a visual 180 as the music is. The song tells a few little stories that all center around how weird it is to have everybody and everything fighting for our attention, our eyes and ears, all the time. It's a challenge to those people to offer something a bit better, funnier and more worthwhile once they've got us listening.
Anyway, the change feels good and we hope the new music will be a nice little bit of distaction [sic] for everyone who has been so loyal and supportive to us over the years.”
