Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ BENEE Releases New Song “Night Garden” featuring Kenny Beats & Bakar
New Zealand singer-songwriter BENEE teamed up with American record producer Kenny Beats and London-based singer-songwriter Bakar to release a new song “Night Garden”.
She recorded the song at Kenny Beats's studio in Los Angels just prior to lockdown. It was one of her first experiences making music outside of New Zealand.
“It's very different to anything I've ever made,” BENEE told Hobba & Hing on triple j in an interview. “It was cool, he [Kenny Beats] was awesome! it was probably the fastest I've ever had to write a song; he turned around in his swivelly chair and was like, 'Alright, are you ready to write something down?' He works with a lot of rappers so he obviously is used to them going in and freestyling, coming up with stuff on the spot.”
Recently, the 20-year-old showcased her breakthrough song “Supalonely” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Ellen Show.- fosX2USIIBs
