  • Matt Berninger Releases Ne Song “Inland Ocean”

  • American alt-rock band The National's frontman Matt Berninger released the third single called “Inland Ocean” from his upcoming sophomore solo album “Get Sunk” on May 7, 2025, following “Bonnet Of Pins” and “Breaking Into Acting”.

The album is set to be released on May 30, 2025 via Book/Concord Records.
The track features Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ronboy, aka Julia Laws as backing vocals.
It was written by Matt Berninger and Walter Martin. Produced by Sean O'Brien.
The new album comprises 10 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Hand Habits and Ronboy.
The album was inspired by Matt Berninger move to Connecticut from Los Angeles. Matt Berninger said, “I was able to get the blurry picture as close to just right for me.”
  • According to a press release, the album is not necessarily an autobiographical album, the narrator is processing how he became himself. Matt Berninger is an expert in what it feels like to lose all bravery, and Get Sunk points to an undulating reflection in the water. It's about realizing that you are not yourself without a thousand others: parents, friends, siblings, spouses and exes, college roommates, childhood best friends, cousins, kids, and even strangers.
