Sunflower Bean Releases New Song “There's A Part I Can't Get Back”
American rock band Sunflower Bean, consisting of Julia Cumming (bass/vocals), Nick Kivlen (guitar) and Olive Faber (drums), will release their upcoming fourth studio album “Mortal Primetime” this Friday (April 25) via Lucky Number.
From the album, the band released the third and final pre-release single called “There's A Part I Can't Get Back” on April 22, 2025.
The track was written and produced by Julia Cumming, Nick Kivlen, and Olive Faber. The accompanying music video was directed by Harv Frost.
The band lead singer Julia Cumming shared on social media, “This is a song about the parts of yourself that were taken. I needed the song to show me it’s okay to be angry that I was changed. It’s about carrying the pain, the questions that will never be answered, and the literal heaviness of that weight. I wanted every lyric to be as intentional and direct as possible. My favorite is the line, 'If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord lets me get even first.' This was important to me because I used to say the Lord’s prayer each night before bed as a child. Turning that phrase into something so sharp and absurd felt like the right way to capture the raw anger that will always linger.”- The new album comprises 10 songs, which the band recorded live in the same room, produced by Julia Cumming, Nick Kivlen, and Olive Faber. It is their first album in three years since 2022 album “Headful of Sugar”.
Julia Cumming said of the album, “You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it. This is ours, and that can’t be taken away by circumstance. We can’t take it away from each other. This moment, where we are now, is what we’ve always fought for.” -
