Lizzo Returns with New Song “Love in Real Life”
American singer-songwriter Lizzo returned with a new song “Love in Real Life” on February 28, 2025.
The song is her first music in three years since the 2022 album “Special”.
Also, it is the first release single after two lawsuits in 2023 from multiple former employees accusing her of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment while on tour.
The song will appear on her upcoming fifth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2025.
She teased the song on social media, “I want to introduce to you guys, the newest piece of content from the new era. I have been working on new music for last two years. I took my time and I did it right. The new era begins today. I truly am coming to gag throats.”
The song is accompanied by the Colin Tilley-directed music video.
The track was written by Blake Slatkin, Eric Frederic, Melissa 'Lizzo' Jefferson, and Theron Thomas. Produced by Ricky Reed and Blake Slatkin.- Lizzo told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the song, “The Strokes were just such a huge inspiration. The Strokes were on the mood board for 'Love in Real Life'. I had been writing since like October 2023, wrote a lot of shit. Then I think I had a turning point in early 2024 with 'Love in Real Life' I wrote that song and was like, 'Whoa, this is it. Erase, scratch everything we did'. Starting with 'Love in Real Life' is the track one. That's where the rest of this kind of happened.”

After two lawsuits, Lizzo denied the allegations and said on “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” podcast, “I think that this experience taught me healthy boundaries. I think there's a time where there's a difference between having boundaries and professional boundaries. It's nuanced. It's a new conversation in this industry.”
She continued about the new album, “A lot of the music is me talking things through. I remembered my purpose... I'm putting everything in my art.” - source : Apple Music
